Artistic and technical director and curator

for events and light festivals

Alongside my work as a light artist, I have spent my entire career working at the intersection of light art, performing arts and large-scale public events. I am inspired by creating memorable experiences that bring together people from different backgrounds through ambitious artistic visions.

Over the past two decades, I have worked extensively as an artistic director, technical director and curator for festivals, public events and multidisciplinary productions. My goal has always been to unite outstanding international artists and create artistically ambitious programmes that would not be possible without a strong understanding of both the creative and technical aspects of production. My extensive international network and hands-on production experience allow me to transform ambitious ideas into reality.

Visual Festival

In 2018, I founded Visual Festival, a unique annual visual arts festival held in the botanical gardens of Botania in my hometown of Joensuu, Eastern Finland. During its first eight editions, the festival has welcomed leading visual artists from more than 30 countries, creating one of the most international visual arts gatherings in Finland.

Visual Festival is designed as a platform where emerging artists, established professionals and internationally recognised masters can meet, collaborate and inspire one another. The festival presents a diverse collection of visual art projects that together form a monumental, immersive and atmospheric experience, encouraging dialogue between different artistic disciplines and generations.

Artistic Direction

My work as an artistic director includes the internationally recognised Path of Light event for the City of Turku, which I curated for five consecutive years, as well as Valkea Light Art Festival at Särkänniemi Amusement Park in Tampere, where I served as curator for two editions.

In addition, I have acted as artistic director for numerous multidisciplinary festivals and large-scale public events, bringing together artists from diverse creative fields into cohesive and memorable experiences.

Technical Direction & Production

As a technical director, I have led the production of hundreds of technically demanding projects spanning light art, media art, performing arts, public events and special productions. My experience also includes opera, theatre, musicals, exhibitions and large-scale outdoor installations.

Combining artistic vision with technical expertise has become one of my greatest strengths, enabling ambitious creative concepts to be realised with precision, reliability and respect for each unique environment.

Snow & Ice Art

I have also produced and curated numerous snow and ice art projects, overseeing every aspect from artistic concept to full production.

Among these are several internationally recognised large-scale works, including full-scale (1:1) snow replicas of Stonehenge, the Moai statues of Easter Island, and a life-sized blue whale sculpted entirely from snow. These projects were created at Botania, where art, nature and landscape become part of the same experience.

Philosophy

What continues to inspire me most is the opportunity to create something extraordinary together with an exceptional team. The most rewarding moments are those when art transforms an ordinary place into an unforgettable shared experience—creating memories that remain long after the lights have disappeared.

Here are selected productions I have curated over the years.
